North Stradbroke Island - Australia Day

Kristy and I went over to North Stradbroke Island for the Australia Day weekend. Apparently it was a babymoon.

Just the 2 of us. Oh, the 2 of us, plus the march flies, plus the blue bottles, plus the sharks, plus the other tourists, plus the atrocious service at the hotel restaurant, plus the staff that obviously hate serving holiday-makers despite them being their primary income.

But seriously, it was a great weekend away. We did have fantastic weather, and it really is a great place to visit. So close to home, yet I've only been there a handful of times.

Got out to do some bushwalking and took some landscapes. Thought I'd share.

This was my pick of the bunch of photos I took. Like the colours and textures.

I liked the way the odd-looking tree here kind of framed the shot with it's silhouette.

Got up at dawn one morning to take some seascapes. Got drenched by a few waves trying to take this:

Also taken at dawn. With this shot I was trying a long exposure to get the water/waves all smooth and milky. Think I achieved that, but not really fussed on the tree left:

This was taken at Brown Lake, so called because the water is stained that colour from the tannins in the surrounding tea trees. The sand on the lake bottom is actually pretty white.

Thought the sky was pretty cool in this one.
