Smart Questions:

There is an excellent article on how to ask your questions without attracting flames at "How To Ask Questions The Smart Way" by Eric Raymond. It is very detailed, so rather than duplicate it here, I'll just refer to it.

"Tux" Linux Logo - linux is my favourite operating system. This isn't the correct Tux logo, but it's the best ascii one I've seen that fits in a 4 line signature.

"The Glider" Hacker Emblem. Hacker does not refer to someone who breaks into other peoples' computers, although it is commonly misinterpretted that way. It simply refers to someone who creates or modifies computer software. The "Glider" term comes from Conway's "Game of Life". There is a more detailed, more correct desription of hacker on Wikipedia. Note that I don't consider myself a hacker by any means, since they are usually far more skilled than I can ever be.
